WireGuard explained for people who just want it to work
WireGuard is the technology quietly doing the heavy lifting inside a lot of modern networking gear, including ours. You do not need to understand it to benefit from it, but a short tour helps explain why our devices feel so effortless.
What WireGuard is
WireGuard is a way to build an encrypted tunnel between two points. Think of it as a private, sealed pipe running through the public internet. What goes in one end comes out the other, unread by anything in between.
It is newer than the protocols it replaces, and it was designed to be small. The entire codebase is tiny compared to older options, which means fewer places for bugs to hide.
Why it is fast
Older tunneling protocols carry a lot of overhead. WireGuard strips that back. It uses modern cryptography and a lean design, so it adds very little delay. On our hardware that means your connection feels close to native, even with everything routed through home.
Why it is private
WireGuard encrypts your traffic with strong, modern algorithms and does not chat unnecessarily. When there is nothing to send, it stays quiet, which also makes it harder to fingerprint. Paired with routing through your own connection, there is no third party in the middle collecting your activity.
The best privacy tool is the one you never have to think about. WireGuard is close to that.
Why you will never see it
Here is the part that matters most. We set WireGuard up for you at the factory. There is no config file to edit, no keys to generate, no tutorial to follow. You plug in the device and the tunnel is already there.
